T-Mobile UK G1 YouTube Channel Launch

T-Mobile UK have recently launched a new level of support for their Android G1 handset - a YouTube channel.

According to T-Mobile, the new YouTube channel will offer an extra layer of support for T-Mobile users by allowing customers to post questions and receive video replies.

Billed as "the next evolution in T-Mobile's relationships with its customers",T-Mobile are aiming to offer blogs, tutorials, guides and short clips on how to use the T-Mobile G1.

There are already a number of informational demo videos on the channel with T-Mobile promising expert staff on-hand to help with more challenging issues.

Save YouTube Videos to Your G1

Here's a pretty nifty way to save YouTube videos directly to your G1 SD Card. Simple and effective guide from androidtapp.com

  1. Search for the video you want.
  2. Tap the YouTube link, by default the G1 will prompt 2 options: Browser or YouTube. Chose “Browser”. The reason, to get the YouTube link.
  3. Tap “Menu” + “Go to URL”, the YouTube URL should appear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kodviK1AHdg (or something similar).
  4. Press on the keyboard “Menu” + “C” to Copy on the G1
  5. Go to a website www.keepvid.com
  6. In the search field press on the keyboard “Menu” + “V” to Paste on the G1, hit Enter
  7. Scroll down and tap “›› Download ‹‹ (video.mp4 - High Quality)“. This will open a new window and download the MP4 in your browser history. Disregard the .FLV version as the G1 can’t do Flash Video… yet. (Alternatively, it’s saved on your SD Card under “downloads” folder).

T-Mobile To Allow Independent Sales Of The G1 In 2009

T-Mobile have confirmed that from January 2009, the Android G1 handset will be made available for sale from independent phone stores.

‘We offered it as a direct exclusive initially, and it was always the plan to open it up to the rest of the market [in time]. The Android software is fantastic, there are so many strong applications on offer.

T-Mobile UK have recently announced price reductions from £40 per month to £30 in an attempt to boost sales for the G1 handset.
