Manufactured by HTC, the Nexus One Android phone is the first handset to be officially sold through and on behalf of Google.
The Nexus One is a purely touchscreen device, and is the biggest rival yet to the Apple iPhone (the Nexus One is actually slimmer in comparison). As you would expect from a Google Android handset, the Nexus One is bundled with Google services such as Gmail, Google Maps, the Android Market and more.
Powered by the very latest Android 2.1 software, the Google Nexus One is the most advanced Android handset to be launched and fis powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU from Qualcomm along with 512MB RAM/ROM, a 3.7-inch AMOLED (480x800) capacitive touchscreen, a 5 mega-pixel camera (with LED flash), along with MicroSD storage support upto 32GB.
The new Android 2.1 Eclair firmware brings a number of new features and updates to the handset. The Eclair update also adds many aesthetic changes including "Live Wallpapers" where animated images can be used for the home screen backgrounds, and are also reactive to user inputs. For example the water background ripples when touched.

Other features of the Nexus One include quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and triband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 2100/1700/900 MHz with HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA up to 2 Mbps, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity, along with aGPS, cell tower and Wi-Fi positioning, a digital compass and accelerometer.

The Nexus One was officially launched across the United states on January 5th 2010 and will be available in the UK later this available exclusively through Vodafone UK. It is believed that T-Mobile UK and 3 are both also in talks to bring the Nexus One handset to their networks, but so far no official confirmation has been given.
