The HTC Desire Z is the latest Android phone in HTC's Desire range of handsets. Unlike the standard Desire and Desire HD models, the Z includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, along with newly designed digital face buttons rather than the somewhat mechanical buttons the standard Desire features.

The Desire Z an impressive 3.7-inch Super LCD capacitive touch-screen display (800x480), and includes a new improved version of the HTC Sense User Interface.

Elsewhere, the Desire Z also includes a 5.0 mega-pixel camera with digital zoom , LED flash and 720p HD video recording functionality.

Designed with usability in mind, the Desire Z has a plethora of built-in features and is the first Android handset since the popular G1 to include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Powered by the very latest Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, the HTC Desire Z is a member of HTC's hugely popular range of Android smartphones that include the HTC Desire, and the HTC Desire HD.

When compared to the original HTC Desire handset, the Desire Z is ever so slightly thicket in size, but only because of the QERTY keyboard hardware. Overall the Desire Z design is very sleek in the hand, and is in no way as bulky as the G1 was!

The Desire Z's slide-out QWERTY keyboard is a very smooth mechanism, sliding from the left-hand side of the casing which offers users a wide keyboard layout. Coupled with the screen size and the slide-out keyboard display, the Desire Z is fairly large in size, but it is not too large to hold & its extra weight gives it a high quality feel.

In terms of weight and size, the HTC Desire Z weighs in at 135g with its dimensions when closed at 11.9cm by 6.04cm by 1.42cm.

The handset features a good sized 3.7-inch touchscreen display which supports a high colour display, and makes navigating the HTC Sense user interface easy and vibrant. The custom made HTC user interface is very easy to use and enables users to customise a whole host of features on the handset, with the home screen options allowing users to give their smartphone a more personal design.

In terms of hardware the Desire Z includes 1.5GB of internal memory along with 512MB of RAM. The handsets storage can be upgraded up to 32GB with a MicroSD memory card. Integrated GPS navigation also provides the users with travel guidance to their chosen location, whether this is by car or by foot.

The HTC Desire Z is a 3G HSDPA capable smartphone which works over HSDPA 1900, HSDPA 2100 as well as four GSM networks. It has a good battery which when fully charged will provide the user with an estimated 6.6 hours of 3G talk time or up to 9.8 hours of talk time when used over a GSM network. This smartphone supports Bluetooth wireless connectivity allowing its user to connect their handset to other compatible devices without using cables, & therefore the user can transfer data quickly & easily plus at high speed thanks to the handset EDGE technology. There is also a micro USB connection port which provides another method of connectivity as the user can use a USB cable to connect the Desire Z to other compatible USB devices to transfer music, message, photos, video & more.
