A Guide to The HTC Desire HD
The original HTC Desire was the UK's number 1 smartphone in the first half of 2010, so it only makes sense that HTC would want to follow up on their success with an extended range of handsets.
Essentially, the HD is the HTC Desire's big brother. Powered by the lightning quick Android 2.2 software the HD has been upgraded to include a stunning 4.3-inch touchscreen display, increased data connection speed of 14.4 Mbps and even features Adobe flash Player 10.
The Desire HD's internal memory has been increased to 1.5 GB (with an option to add up to 32GB of microSD memory), and the camera has been upgraded to 8 megapixels, with a dual LED flash and video recording in 720p HD. Oh, they've also added in Dolby® Mobile and SRS virtual surround sound and DLNA connectivity, so you can connect your Desire HD to a suitable TV.
In terms of appearance and size the Desire HD is on the large side mainly due to the super sized 4.3-inch display, and although it does feel quite weighty at 164grams, this added weight gives the handset a quality feel.
Measuring in at 12.3cm tall by 6.8cm wide & it is 1.18cm deep, the Desire HD can be held comfortably in the hand for viewing and controlling the touchscreen. The screen itself is capable of displaying up to 16,000,000 colours with a screen resolution of four hundred & eighty pixels by eight hundred pixels being provided on the capacitive touch screen.
The HD also includes the intuitive and impressive HTC Sense user interface which supports a wide range of customisation options including a customisable home screen and a huge selection of downloadable widgets.
As you can guess from the name, the Desire HD includes some rather impressive high definition capabilities which enable users to record & view videos in high quality 720p. The HD's 8 mega-pixel camera includes imaging focused features including a touch screen pinch to zoom, face detection setting, automatic focus & a dual LED flash option.
Music can also be enjoyed using the built in music player or on the integrated radio feature. The music player supports a user friendly music display which will assist the user when searching & controlling their music.
The HTC Desire HD supports Dolby Mobile surround sound which provides a clear sound experience either over the phones speakers or via a set of compatible headphones or earphones when the user would prefer a private listening experience
As you'd expect from an Android phone, the Desire HD features integrated Facebook and Twitter apps which enable users to access the popular sociail networks quickly and easily while on the go.
The HTC Desire HD comes with an assortment of messaging service which allows the user to communicate using the messaging service to suit all their messaging communication needs. There is a text message service, multimedia service, online instant messaging & an email service to choose from.
Battery life is always a concern when researching the largest smartphones. The Desire HD includes a a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1230 mAh which when fully recharged will provide up to 9 hours of talk time when used over a 3G network or 5.3 hours of GSM talk time depending on the users networking needs. There is 1.5 gigabytes of internal memory & the Desire HD comes with 768 megabytes of RAM. There is also an expandable memory card slot which will hold an external memory card which is up to 32 gigabytes in size.
The HTML Internet browser is social network compatible & the user can access the Internet via WiFi connectivity.
